In Loving Memory of Nancy (Taber) Kirkham
With profound sadness, we share that Nancy (Taber) Kirkham, of Hebron, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on October 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on February 20, 1952, in Deep River, CT, Nancy was the daughter of Cliff and Audrey Taber. She graduated from Valley Regional High School and attended Eastern State University. Nearly fifty years ago, she made Hebron her home, a place where she raised her children, built lifelong friendships, and became a beloved figure in the community.
Nancy’s life was centered around family, and her greatest joy came from the deep bonds she nurtured with loved ones. She and her husband Geoff Kirkham shared over forty years of marriage, creating a blended family filled with laughter, love, and warmth. Their home was a haven for children and grandchildren alike.
Nancy was lovingly known as “Nanny” to her grandchildren and to the many children she cared for over the years. Her nurturing spirit, gentle wisdom, and unwavering kindness made her a trusted presence in young lives. Whether she was babysitting, offering a listening ear, or simply being nearby, you knew everything was okay with Nanny in charge.
Nancy and Geoff shared many adventures throughout their years together. They loved to travel, exploring new places hand in hand, and Nancy was the consummate planner - thoughtful, organized, and always making sure every detail was just right. Whether it was a camping trip or a cross-country journey, she made each experience memorable and fun.
She also touched many lives through her work in the community. Nancy brought her gracious spirit to The Shops at Marlborough Barn, where she enjoyed connecting with people and sharing in the joy of home decor. Later, she became a familiar and friendly face at Hebron Pharmacy, where her warmth and reliability made her a favorite among customers.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her gentle heart, her love of camping and travel with Geoff, and her unwavering devotion to their life together. Her legacy is one of compassion, connection, and quiet strength.
Nancy is deeply mourned by her children and their families: Daughter, Lisa Massicotte and her husband Todd of Exeter, NH; Son, Michael Pomprowicz of Hebron, CT; Stepdaughter, Stacey Durden and her husband Jeff of Redmond, OR; and Stepdaughter, Heather Murphy and her husband Justin of Marlborough, CT. Grandchildren, Cameron, Tommy and Michael Massicotte, Avery and Jake Pomprowicz, Ila Durden, and Caitlyn, Amelia, and Jillian Murphy.
She is also lovingly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Donna Taber of Deep River, CT; her nephew Brian and his family, Betsey, Maren, Teagan, and Peter Taber of Glastonbury, CT; and her niece Karen and her family, Josh, Ethan, and Haddie Esposito of Hebron, CT.
Nancy was grateful for the enduring friendship and co-parenting partnership she shared with Paul and Carla Pomprowicz of Hebron, CT, and for the love and support of her former mother-in-law, Alberta Pomprowicz of Hebron, CT.
A service to honor Nancy’s beautifully lived life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Hebron, CT. A reception will follow immediately at St. Peter’s Phelps Hall, where friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hebron Historical Society P.O. Box 43, Hebron CT 06248, or Hebron Interfaith Human Services Food Pantry, 28 Pendelton Drive, Hebron CT 06248.
