Nancy J. Niehaus (nee Morrison), 82, of Eagle, Idaho passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025.
Nancy was born in Victoria, Texas in 1943 to Thomas and Addie Morrison. She graduated from Victoria High School and Texas Lutheran College before moving to Kerrville, Texas to work at Zion Lutheran Church. While there, Nancy met Henry Niehaus, the love of her life, when he was in town on leave from the Army. Henry and Nancy married in 1967 and embarked on an adventurous life together.
While moving throughout the south central US (and brief stints in Norway and Dubai), they raised two children, Cheryl and Mark, and created many wonderful family memories together. Nancy sang alto in countless choirs throughout much of her life, and was an active member of many church communities. She drew people in with her warmth, grace, and gentle joyful spirit. Nancy enjoyed in depth conversations with friends and family, and had the special gift of making those in her life feel truly seen and loved.
Nancy and Henry settled in Austin, Texas in the mid 1990's and continued their adventures through their wonderful travels across the United States and around the world. Nancy was thrilled to become a mother-in-law when Mark and Shelly married in Dallas, and, later, 'Gran' to their twin boys Aiden and Owen. She was also thrilled to become a grandmother ('Oma') again, when Cheryl welcomed her twin boys Grayson and Christopher several years later.
Nancy and Henry moved from Austin to be near Mark and Shelly and their family in Eagle in early 2025.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Addie Morrison, as well as additional members of her extended family. She is survived by her husband Henry, daughter Cheryl, son Mark and daughter-in-law Shelly, and her four grandsons Aiden, Owen, Grayson and Christopher.
The family will hold a celebration of Nancy's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
