On October 29, 2025, Nancy Morgan Serpa passed away in Tampa, Florida. She was 75.
Nancy Morgan was born on June 15, 1950, to Peg and Ralph Morgan, spending most of her early years in Short Hills, where she shared a happy childhood with her sisters Sue, Jane and Kate. She remained close to her family over the years, enjoying many family celebrations and holiday dinners.
Nancy graduated from Millburn High School before studying French at Middlebury College. She would go on to join the Foreign Service, eventually retiring after 34 years. Her work would take her all over sub-Saharan Africa, culminating with her role as Deputy Chief of Mission in Lagos, Nigeria. Nancy also found time to take a brief sabbatical to obtain her MPA from Harvard. In retirement, she kept busy sending three kids to college, traveling, serving as secretary for Arlington Senior Babe Ruth, and aspiring to be a contestant on Jeopardy before settling in Weeki Wachee, Florida. There, she enjoyed relaxing days and nights on her lanai solving sudokus, hitting "genius" on Spelling Bee, rooting for the Boston Red Sox, and taking way too long to complete the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her children Kathleen and Michael (Katie), grandson Louie, and sister Sue (Kevin). She was predeceased in death by her husband Lou, son Matthew, sisters Jane and Kate, and parents. Nancy was a devoted aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who she loved dearly.
An intimate graveside service to celebrate Nancy's life will take place at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia (3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201) on Thursday, November 20th at noon with a luncheon in her honor to follow.
