Send Flowers Plant A Tree
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Nancy Ellen (Gray) Uggerholt on September 24, 2025. Born in Salem, MA to Alice and Robert Gray in 1954, Nancy spent her childhood years in Gloucester; in later years she moved to NH with her husband, Chris Uggerholt, who pre-deceased her. Together, Nancy and Chris spent many years in and around the Mt Washington region as well as on the shores of Gloucester. Nancy was a graduate of Gloucester High School and went on to study Art at the University of Denver and at the School of the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. It was there she refined and cultivated her creative and imaginative artistic skills. In the last few years of her life, Nancy's kindhearted spirit never failed. She was a great friend to many while courageously facing many profound struggles with her health. Throughout her life Nancy demonstrated a strong resilience towards adversity. Those who knew Nancy will always remember her sassy wit, her sly smile and her sense of adventure. Nancy had absolute love for her children, Amanda and Ryder, and for her granddaughter who she always affectionally called "my Tessa". They were everything to her, and they gave her the the unwavering determination to fight for her health. She was a true survivor of life's challenges and she will be sadly missed. In addition to her children and grandchild, Nancy is survived by her son in-law Jesse Grissom, brother-in-law Karl (Laura) Uggerholt, sister-in-law Kathy Uggerholt, brothers David (Carol) Gray, Thomas Gray, sister Josie (Thomas) Storrs, and nephews Matthew (Heather) Gray, Nathan (Laura) Gray, Jack Storrs, her life long friend and the father of her children Douglas Ritchie, and many extended family members, enduring friendships and a supportive community who loved her dearly. They will all continue to carry her memory forward. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held in Gloucester in the Spring.
