Norman Paul Fortin, 88, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died on October 20, 2025, following a brief illness. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen (Bordeau) Fortin. Survivors include his daughter Judith Fortin of Los Angeles, California, and a son Thomas Fortin and his wife Catherine of Santa Fe, New Mexico; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was born on January 8, 1937, in Burlington, Vermont, to Francis and Jeanne (Cote) Fortin. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1955 and attended the University of Vermont where he studied engineering and served in the ROTC for four years. Upon graduation in 1958, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. He served as an assistant instructor on the staff of the Department of Engineering, U.S. Army Engineer School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Following his commission, he was employed as a civil engineer with New England Telephone Company for 30 years.

Norman will be remembered for his wry sense of humor and friendly smile. He was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach.
