Ofelia C. Herranz, 89, of Vallejo, California, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025. She was born on March 11, 1936, at Clark Air Base in Pampanga, Philippines, and emigrated to San Francisco, California, in 1981.
Ofelia built a long and dedicated career in the hospitality industry, working in the Philippines, California, and Texas. Beyond her work, she found joy in sewing, cooking, singing, and watching old movies—simple pleasures that carried her through every chapter of life.
She is survived by her children, Shamira (Sean) Heffernan, Carmelo (Mary Ann) Herranz, Celeste (David) Wilkinson, and Raul (May) Herranz; her grandchildren, Cheyenne, Liam, Rochelle, Rafael, Antonio, Nahleen, Francesca, Carlos, and Ceana; her great-grandchildren; and her brother, Roland (Sally) Cruz, along with many nieces and nephews.
Ofelia's greatest legacy was bringing her children to the United States, giving them the opportunity for a new beginning and a better future. Her courage and determination changed the course of her family's lives, and for that, her loved ones are deeply grateful. Though her relationships with family were not always easy, those experiences shaped how her children and grandchildren understand family, love, and perseverance.
In her passing, there is space for reflection, healing, and the hope that she has now found peace. She will be missed by those who loved her and remembered with respect and gratitude by all whose lives she touched.
