With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Onofre M. Lopez, age 83, who entered eternal rest on October 21, 2025 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Onofre was born on March 24, 1942 in Falfurrias, Texas, where he was raised by Ricardo Lopez and Teresa M. Lopez.
In 1960, Onofre met his one true love, Ana Maria Hernandez, who would later become his life partner in 1963. Soon afterward, they were blessed with two children, Adriana and Renee. Onofre worked offshore in Louisiana and Alaska as a foreman for Brown & Root in Houston, Texas before retiring from Walton Barge Terminal and moving to Premont, Texas. Throughout his profession, Onofre demonstrated a diligent work ethic and was committed to providing for his family.
Onofre's departure leaves a void in all of the hearts he touched. A void extremely difficult to fill.
Onofre's days were filled with love, purpose, and a deep connection to family. He traveled the country with his wife, Ana, always returning with keepsakes and stories to share. He found happiness in music and dance, and never began a morning without his coffee and newspaper. He never left home without his cowboy boots, belt buckle, and cowboy hat. His ranch was his sanctuary — a place where he raised goats and cattle, baled hay, and made treasured memories with his grandchildren. Onofre was a loving and steady presence for his family. His absence leaves a deep ache, but his spirit will live on in those who carry his love forward.
Onofre Lopez is preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo Lopez and Teresa M.
Lopez, and his brother Ricardo Lopez Jr.
Survived by his wife of 63 years, Ana M. Lopez; His oldest daughter, Adriana Salazar and her husband, Daniel Salazar, of Sugar Land, Texas; His youngest daughter, Renee Cantu, and her husband, Homer Cantu, of Crosby, Texas; His grandchildren, Brenda Henson (Keaton) and Brandon Salazar (Brenda); Nicolas Cantu and Mia Cantu; his great-grandchildren, Cooper and Parker Henson; and his sisters, Endelia Juarez, Rebecca Maldonado (Raymond), Elsa Saenz (Joe David), and Teresa Cavasos.
A Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM, Monday October 27, 2025 at the Alaniz Funeral Home in Falfurrias, Texas followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias, Texas. Burial will take place at The Falfurrias Burial Park.
