Patricia "Patsy" McCauley Blood
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia McCauley Blood, age 88, who died peacefully at her home in San Diego, California, on September 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Rouyn-Noranda Quebec, Canada, on August 11, 1936, Patricia, affectionately known as Patsy, was proud of her Canadian heritage. She enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood in Northern Ontario and her job as a telephone operator in Toronto. Her adventurous spirit led her to move to the United States, living in Michigan, Minnesota, and Guam before settling in San Diego, California.
Patsy was known as a vibrant woman with a "life of the party" personality, a feisty and strong spirit and a kind heart, always ready to help others. She had an ability to connect with people, often starting conversations with "I'm from Canada, where are you from?" which led to shared travel stories.
Her passion for travel was evident through her extensive journeys, having explored 39 countries, all US states, and 7 of 10 Canadian provinces. She enjoyed capturing memories through photography, creating albums of cherished moments with family and friends. An avid reader, Patsy also enjoyed conversations over a beer. She spent many hours enjoying walks outdoors with her friend Lucille in North Park.
For about 15 years, Patsy co-ran a small business with her friend Ardy Rosvet, showing her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to providing for her family.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Clare Kearney McCauley, her brother Beverly McCauley, and her sister Maureen McCauley. She was also preceded in death by her late spouses, Roger Christensen and Nathan Blood.
She is survived by her children, Karen (Jeff) Keefer, Vicky (Tim) Burke, John (Julie) Christensen, stepdaughters, Vondi (late Vandye) Forrester, and Vicki (Brock) Wagner. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Bryce (Heather) Keefer, Claire Keefer, Brady Christensen, Bennett Christensen, and Kate Christensen, and her great-grandchild, Amber Keefer.
Memorial donations may be made to the Red Cross.
Cheers to a life well-lived. She will be dearly missed.
