Patricia "Nanny Jean" Cromeans Ouellette, born July 23, 1951, passed away her home in Sugar Land, TX on August 29, 2025, from Parkinsons disease complications.
Jean was preceded in death by the love of her life Bruce Ouellette, who passed in 2017. Jean and Bruce were the epitome of a true love story. The family is comforted that the two are now together again.
For 20 years, Jean worked as a caregiver for numerous disabled clients. She was enthusiastic about a myriad of many social causes, and gave generously of her time, money, and talent for the benefit of others. Her many volunteering efforts included advocacy for disability rights with the nonprofit organization Adapt. Jean was well known within the organization for attending multiple rallies and protests across the US and was active in the cause for Disability Rights. Several of her clients became lifelong friends.
Of Jean's extensive talents, her cooking and baking were her favorite. Nanny Jean's cakes and cooked dinners were always requested for family gatherings, and her meals are still discussed with enthusiasm and warm memories. Jean had a strong love of football; she never missed a Houston Texans game and loved watching with her family. Jean's favorite past-time was throwing parties. She was never happier than when she had a full house of family and friends.
Jean was a devoted mother to her older son Shaun Thomas, daughter-in-law Stephanie Thomas, and younger son Presley Thomas, and his partner April Osborne, and daughter-in-love Melissa Hubbard, as well as her grandchildren Dylan Thomas and wife Kimberlee Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Mattie Thomas, Ollie Thomas, Anthony Alexander and wife Alex Alexander, Matthew Lichenstein, Tiffany Sutterfield, Ashley Bray and granddaughter-in-law Amber Gillaspie and husband Tim Gillaspie. Jean was immensely proud to be a great-grandmother to Averie Thomas, Max Alexander, Nicolas Alexander, Samson Alexander, Luna Alexander and great grandchildren in law, Ethan, Emma, and Andie Gillaspie. Nanny Jean's greatest love in life was her family. She loved her sons with all her heart, cherished every grandchild and great-grandchild.
Nanny Jean was given her grandma's name by her first grandson Dylan and thus was forever called by it everyone after. Jean never knew a stranger. She and her husband, "Papa" Bruce, opened their home and hearts to multiple family members and friends over the years. If she knew of someone's need, she would do anything to help them.
Jean spent the last two years of her life in laughter and love living with her daughter- in-love, Melissa Hubbard, in Sugarland, Texas. They had unlimited fun adventures and shenanigans. Jean developed a deep love and bond with their three dogs and enjoyed sneaking them treats. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading and living a quiet life watching ER, cooking shows and Big Bang Theory.
Patricia Jean Ouellette's wishes were to be cremated, and her ashes be combined for eternity with those of her husband, Bruce Ouellette's.
