Patti Shuler was a force to be reckoned with. Born Patricia Monica Cimino to Frank William Cimino of West Orange, NJ and Frances Rocco Cimino of Brooklyn, NY on May 27, 1949 in Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL, she grew up in North Miami Beach in a loving family with her two sisters, Marie and Barbara (Bobbie). She got married when she was 18 and moved away to start her adventures doing everything from owning a dive shop, being the foreman for a construction company, and working with children in a Montessori school. Her biggest accomplishment was her career with the Space Shuttle Program from 1978 to 2012 where she made many friends and met her long-time love, Jack Gardner. Patricia worked hard, lived fully, loved fiercely, and never held back on telling you what was on her mind. She had a fierce personality and once you knew her, you knew you wanted to be friends with her for life. She may have appeared on first impression to be a no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is person but as soon as you had the privilege of being in her confidences, you would soon discover she was an amazing, thoughtful, and generous spirit who would do absolutely anything for you within her power. She showered her friends and family, partner and pets, even those she met in passing, with gifts of joy, support, humor, and an incredible ability to listen to whatever you needed to get off of your heart. Her spirituality, kindness, generosity and loyalty knew no bounds. She is, and will continue to be, greatly missed.
Patricia “Patti” Shuler died while in the ICU at Viera Hospital in Melbourne, FL after long-term complications from congestive heart failure and a lingering infection. She was 76 years old. Surrounded by her beloved, family and friends, she passed peacefully on October 12, 2025. Undoubtedly, she would have something to say about the time being at 17:17pm.
Although she always preferred Patricia, she was known throughout her life by her friends and family as Patti and more affectionately as Aunt Patti to her many nieces and nephews. Patti is survived in family by her long-time boyfriend and beloved, Jack Gardner (Melbourne); her sisters and their husbands: Marie Cimino DeGrandis and John DeGrandis (Orlando), Barbara “Bobbie” Cimino Cline and David Cline (Port St. Lucie); her nieces, nephews and their spouses: Shay DeGrandis (Orlando), Jenna DeGrandis Wickens and Patrick Wickens (Lake Nona), Jared and Crystal Cline (Fruitland Park), Dylan and Lauren Cline (Sanford), Devin and Katy Cline (Sanford); and her grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Gavin and Carter Wickens, Brooklyn and Madison Cline, Sloane and Andie Cline, Daniel and Christopher Cline. She is also survived my innumerable friends, the family she chose to have closest to her, those who rushed to her side or in support in her final days: Denise, Joy, Maribea and John; her godson, Roy and his partner, Cara; Tara, Wendie, Jere Gardner (via phone), Terry (via food), Mrs. Womack (from afar), Anne, Carole and Joyce (as well as colleagues and friends too numerous to name here). Naturally, last but not least, she is survived by her beloved pup, Kyle. She was continually surrounded by much love and gratitude. She is predeceased by her friends Sharon and Michele and her many loved dogs: Harley, Chinook, Sasha, Jolly, Jesse and Bodie.
A celebration of life memorial ceremony will be held in the near future.
