Send Flowers Plant A Tree
Patrick Trimm of San Diego, California, died at home from complications of cancer on October 19, 2025, at 72.

Patrick was a creator of beauty in all things. An avid gardener, wood turner, chef, and orchid whisperer, he could build, repair and improve anything. His house was his ongoing project and every surface bears his thoughtful touch. Patrick was a lifelong learner, studying spiritual traditions and ways of being and thinking. His mind and heart grew daily through active self-inquiry.

Patrick attended San Diego State University, graduating with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in 1979, one in business and the other in industrial arts. Throughout the 1970s, he taught plant propagation and woodworking classes at the SDSU Craft Center.

Through his business, Trimm Woodworking, established in 1980, he designed and built numerous interiors, both commercial and residential. After retiring, he focused more of his energies on wood turning, refining his technique and creating exquisite bowls and other objects. He was generous with his time as a mentor and teacher.

Patrick had a mischievous, coyote nature and was endlessly curious. He was well and widely loved for his sense of wonder and his wisdom.

He adored his wife, Randy Phillips, and daughter, Alexandra Trimm, and his close circle of friends. Gregarious, scrappy, kind and loving, he will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on December 6, 2025. Contact the family or patrickmemorial25@gmail.com for details. Donations in Patrick's honor can be made to San Diego Woodturners or Lightbridge Hospice.
