Patsy Ann Foster Bush

Patsy Ann Foster Bush, 89, of Matthews, NC, passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of October 18, 2025.
Mrs. Bush was born and raised in the town of Bath in Aiken County, SC, on April 15, 1936. She graduated from LBC High School in June 1955, where, in addition to being the first female student bus driver at the school—and one of the first in South Carolina—she also excelled in sports, including basketball and softball. It was also there that she met her husband of 64 years, Lonnie Wayne Bush. After graduation, she and Lonnie worked at the Cotton Mill in Graniteville, South Carolina, where she honed her skills in the sewing mills. Mr. and Mrs. Bush were married on December 18, 1955. Together, in a small house in Bath, SC, they raised four daughters. Over the weekend of July 4, 1967, Mr. and Mrs. Bush and their four young daughters moved to Charlotte, NC, where she worked at Photo Corporation of America (PCA) until her retirement.
In Charlotte, Mrs. Bush became a beloved member of Shiloh Truelight Church of Christ in Mint Hill, where she faithfully attended until she was no longer able due to the lingering effects of a severe stroke her husband suffered in 2006.
Mrs. Bush is remembered as a loving, devoted, hardworking, and kindhearted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A pillar of strength for her family, she delighted in taking her daughters swimming, embarking on frequent beach trips, and teaching them to cook and sew—lessons in resilience and joy that endured a lifetime.
Mrs. Bush was laid to rest at Shiloh Truelight Church of Christ Cemetery on Sunday, October 19.
Mrs. Bush was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Walton Foster and Jennie Mae Foster; her husband, Lonnie Wayne Bush; one brother, Johnny Foster; four sisters, Barbara West, Joyce Grice, Della Bass, and Martha Murray; four grandchildren, Troy Phillip Dalton, Amanda Elaine (Greene) Legg, Adrian Brent Purser, and Matthew Edward Fullwood; and three infant great-grandchildren, Angelica Marie Purser, Jennie Lee Legg, and Broden Keith Purser.
Mrs. Bush is survived by her four daughters, Patti Wane Dalton (Phillip), Kathy Marie Purser, Linda Gail Fullwood (Eddie), and Sandra Lee Greene (Barry); 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
