With great sadness the family announces
Paula Zwijac (nee Zarndt)
of Las Vegas, Nevada has passed away at home
with her family by her side.
Paula was born in Hammond, Indiana to Clarence and Irene (Hotinski) Zarndt. She grew up in Griffith with her sister Elsie and her brothers Carl, Edward, and Lennard (and loving cousins), attended Franklin Elementary, graduated from Griffith High School in 1966 and married the love of her life, Walter Zwijac Jr, at St. Casimir Church. They made their home in Hessville with their children, Walter (Nancy), Julie (Bill Wilson), Carolyn Sue (Robert Alvarez), and Joseph (Jessica). She also became CNA certified, employed by the late St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, in the early 1990's.
After providing the best childhood ever to her children and seeing them off into the world as good citizens, she brought her kindness, humility, and service to Las Vegas in the Fall of 1996, near her brother Lennard (Donna) Zarndt, and her future grandchildren Trevor (Nicole), Rachel (Robert), Parker, Tabitha, Natalie, Caleb, Matthew, Emily, and great-grandchildren John Joseph and Lucas Walter. While making sure her family celebrated milestones together, she was also "the best CNA" and "valued more than anyone" at Valley Hospital, retiring in 2010 to be a full-time Grandma and GG to the Zwijac Party of 22.
Paula loved her family with all her being, and made it her life's work to be the best Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Niece, Aunt, Wife, Mom, Grandma, and GG. Nothing was ever about herself. She was very thoughtful in providing memories, life lessons, family events, and never missed a chance to be with her loved ones (or find them on Facebook)!
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025, 10:30am, appropriately All Saints Day, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Dr, Las Vegas NV 89128, which will also be live-streamed. youtube.com/@st.elizabethannsetonromanc1506
In loving memory, feel free to post tributes, send cards, and give flowers to your loved ones. Paula's love lives on for all eternity, not just through her family, but also through the countless lives she touched.
