Pearl Lee Mills

Pearl Loree Mills, age 63,of Gary,In passed November 10,2025. She was born on March 21, 1962, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Eddie and Coretta (Smith) Mills. At a very young age, Pearl confessed her hope in Christ and was baptized. She faithfully attended Clark Road Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her God-Father, the late Rev. Phrase D. Evans, Sr.
Pearl was a proud 1981 graduate of Horace Mann High School, where she excelled both academically and athletically. During her time at Horace Mann, she distinguished herself in volleyball and basketball, earning recognition as a McDonald's All-American.
Pearl was a devoted educator with over 30 years of service. She dedicated her life to supporting young people in pursuing their dreams and goals. She volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club, sponsored student organizations and programs in the school community, and was highly recognized within the education community.
She coached AAU teams and dedicated many years to coaching volleyball and basketball within the school corporation, pouring her heart into mentoring future generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Coretta Mills; her sister, Cindy Mills; and her brothers Ray Mills, Roy Mills, Jerome Mills, Edwin Mills, and Lomas Mills.
Pearl leaves to cherish her memory: her sister Pamela (Dwayne) Pruitt; her brother Jackie Mills; Step Mother Mozell Mills; her best friends, Sherry and Jimmie Gates, Jr.; special nephews John (Trude) Reed of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Dwayne (Chelsea) Mills-Pruitt of Indianapolis, IN; special nieces Clinique Pruitt, Elder KaTina (Robert) Hurt, ToJuana Sams, all of Gary, IN; Tawana and Roslyn Mills of Detroit, MI; and Sherika Mills of Tempe, AZ; along with a host of other loving relatives, friends, former players, and community members whose lives were touched by her kindness, dedication, and vibrant spirit.
