Send Flowers
Phyllis Stoiberg (nee McHaney)
June 7, 1926 - October 9, 2025

Phyllis Stoiberg 99 passed away on Oct 9, 2025 peacefully at her home of natural causes. Beloved wife for 55 years to her late husband Edward Stoiberg; loving mother of Richard Stoiberg (deceased); Drew Stoiberg; Kim Murphy (Mark); Tana Stoiberg; dearest grandmother of Jennifer Stoiberg, Hanna Stoiberg; Kathryn Frost (Adam), Lauren Murphy; sister to Richard McHaney (deceased); treasured Aunt to Mike McHaney (April).

Phyllis was born in Brooklyn Wa, daughter to the late Robert McHaney and Ethel (Loomis) McHaney. The family had a dairy farm for a short time but a disease ran through the herd and all were lost. They relocated to Bozeman Montana where she spent her youth. Mom was an active gal who enjoyed skiing and all the great outdoors of Yellowstone. It was a beautiful area to grow up. There were many years training in all forms of dance with dreams of becoming a professional dancer. We have so many photos of her in her youth performing in different dance recitals. She was a tall, graceful beauty. She attended Montana State College for 1 year and was in the sorority: Chi Mega. Then took off for the lights of Hollywood with aspirations of modeling and professionally dancing. She signed with Caroline - Leonetti Modeling Agency. Tried out the dance profession but was a little scared off by the atmosphere. Taught dance at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. We always thought it took a lot of guts to leave Bozeman at the young age of 20 and venture to Los Angeles all by herself. She later met our father in Los Angeles, who just happened to have been born in Montana. Small world. He was quite the extrovert and a lot of fun she said. They married in 1950 and settled in Los Angeles. Their first child Richard was born 14 months later and three years later a second son Drew came. They thought they might be done but 4 years later a daughter Kim was born. Now they knew they were done but that was not to be. Last came their second daughter Tana. So life was very busy taking care of four kids. Our father had originally worked at Technicolor cutting film and selling Electrolux vacuums on the side. The vacuum business was great so he left Technicolor. Mom helped with the business being his secretary and sometimes canvassing for new customers. They raised their children in Woodland Hills Ca. She was always first a Mother who was constantly running each kid to all their activities besides maintaining the house. Our father with my mother's assistance had won numerous vacations to locations around the world. In her later years after the kids were grown, she joined the Red Hats where she was finally able to have some fun for herself with a great group of ladies. Enjoyed a lot of great trips and adventures with them. She then joined a line dancing group where she was still dancing into her 90s. She was a great inspiration for the younger dancers. She also sold Jafra cosmetics for 35 years on the side.
Our father passed away in 2006 and our brother Drew stayed with our mother for the remainder of her life. He made her feel safe and was there to take over all her needs and wants. He was a great cook and could fix anything. She always said how lucky she was to have no pain, could sleep well and had Drew there to handle everything for her. Her Daughter Tana came over often to take her out shopping, dinners and other special events. There were numerous trips to visit her daughter Kim in Washington. Rick who had owned a car repair shop kept her car going and took her out to dinner often.
Her special nephew Mike and wife April were ever present in her life. Always bringing her gifts and taking her on many outings. They brought her much joy.
Her life was a testament to resilience, compassion and an unwavering devotion to her family.

Although our beings ache deeply for your physical presence, we pray you are enveloped in that infinite space of knowing and love. May God and every heavenly host meet you where heaven and earth touch and gently guide you on your soul journey. You are our North Star, the light of our life and we will FOREVER savor the privilege and good fortune of being your children. We will never not miss you. We will slowly learn to live without the piece that left with you on October 9th.
It was a life well lived!
