Raymond Henry Caspary was born on January 6, 1926 in Carroll, Iowa, the second of three children to Frederick and Agnes (Schieffer) Caspary. His family moved to Pontiac, Michigan during the depression where his dad found work with General Motors. Ray was an alter boy and sang in the choir. After he graduated from St. Frederick High School in 1943, he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the destroyer escort William T. Powell as a sonar technician. He was a proud WW II veteran and in 1989 he became a member of the Honored Flight program with a trip to Washington DC. Ray worked for Pontiac Motors for 42 years where he played on the company's golf team before retiring to Hendersonville, NC in the beautiful Smokey Mountains. He loved the game of golf and was an avid reader. Ray and his wife Beatrice moved to Wilmington, NC in 2005. It was there after Bea's passing that he met Barbara and they enjoyed many years together taking cruises around the world. Ray is predeceased by his partner Barbara (Klos) and her children Carolyn, Harry, Chris, Timothy and Susan. He is predeceased by his parents, sisters Helen (Daniel), Norma (Taylor), and his wife Beatrice (Macrellis) who he met on a blind date in 1946. They married in 1947 and had seven children: Ray (Jayne), Susan (William Callahan), Steven, Thomas (Bill Lange), Janet (Phillip Harper), James and Edward (1962-2007). Ray is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and his sister-in-law Sue Macrellis. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
