Raymond Granz, 76, passed away on October 14, 2025, in Redwood City, California. Born on May 12, 1949, in San Francisco, California, Ray lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, a love of the outdoors, and a deep appreciation for hands-on work.

Ray graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from City College. He also obtained his aviation license—an achievement that reflected both his technical skill and his passion for flight. His professional career spanned decades in the airline industry. Ray worked for Western Airlines before joining United Airlines, where he served as a mechanic in the engine shop for 21 years. His meticulous attention to detail and mechanical expertise earned him respect among colleagues and contributed to the safety and reliability of countless flights.

Outside of work, Ray was known for his many hobbies that showcased his creativity and love of motion. He was an avid bike rider who enjoyed the freedom of the open road. Fishing brought him peace and connection with nature. Perhaps most notably, Ray had a lifelong passion for building and flying remote-controlled airplanes—a pursuit that combined his technical know-how with a childlike sense of wonder. He also enjoyed skiing, embracing the thrill of the slopes with enthusiasm.

Ray had a remarkable ability to fix anything. Whether it was a household repair or a complex mechanical issue, he approached every challenge with patience and skill. His hands were rarely still; he found joy in working with them and took pride in every project he completed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Geri Granz; his daughter, Patricia Granz; and his sister, Sharyn Frazier. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Granz, and his mother, Helen

Ray’s legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him best—memories filled with laughter on fishing trips, quiet moments spent building model planes, and the steady presence of a man who could always be counted on to lend a hand or solve a problem.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
