Rev. Silas A. “Si” Belden, 90, husband of Chaplain Siegrid E. (Tagtmeyer) Belden, Morningside House of Collegeville, PA, died Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville, PA. He was a former resident of Collegeville and Audubon, PA

Si was born on July 24, 1935, in Plattsburgh, NY, to the late Arthur N. and Julia E. (Turner) Belden. He earned a BS in chemistry from State University Of NY, Plattsburgh, an MS in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MS in international business from Thunderbird School of International Management, Arizona State University, and an MDiv in theology from Eastern Theological Seminary.

Si served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1958, including time in Japan where he taught mathematics to US Air Force Security Forces.

Before retiring, Si was a chaplain and volunteer coordinator for the Montgomery Hospital Home Care and Hospice, Norristown, PA. He also was the founder and CEO of Audubon Controls, Inc. He previously worked for Oakite Chemical, Berkley Heights, NJ; Rohm & Haas, Philadelphia and Caracas, Venezuela; and General Electric Silicone Products, Waterford, NY. He taught mathematics and science at Lansingburgh High School, Troy. NY; and was on the faculty of Eastern University, Community College of Philadelphia and Widener University.

Si was a member of Lower Providence Baptist Church and was very active. He served as a Deacon and also delivered many sermons as an ordained minister. He played many sports including basketball and football. He played for the Air Force football team while stationed in Japan. He enjoyed watching sports as well and was an Eagles, Phillies and Flyers fan. His main passion was fishing, and he has fished all over the world, including Alaska and Venezuela. A large portion of his life was spent with a fishing pole in his hand.

In addition to his wife, Si is survived by his children, Kimberly (Belden) Storz, Collegeville; Scott, husband of Connie (Stark) Belden, Collegeville; Christine Mokgadi, wife of Eli Amilani, Downingtown, PA, and Steven, husband of Angela (Quinn) Nagy, Manistee, MI; his grandchildren, Parker Belden, Cameron Belden, Grace (Storz) Weaver and husband Braden Weaver, Thabo Mokgadi, Kagiso Mokgadi, Mogale Mokgadi, and Polly Quinn; and his cousin, Betty Young, Sarasota, NY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rev. Dr. Patricia A. (Brown) Belden, and his grandson, Jacob Keirn.

Si’s memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, October 25th, at Lower Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth W. Webster, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:45 AM, Saturday, at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Providence Baptist Church, 3430 Ridge Pike, Collegeville, PA 19426. Arrangements are by Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe, PA.
