"A Diamond in the Rough"
Richard L. Burnett, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 7, 2025, at Bayshore Hospital. He was born June 15, 1961 and raised in Parlin, NJ, a proud member of the "Haven Gang". He attended Sayreville War Memorial High School, Class of 1979. Rich lived in several towns over the years, and most recently made his home in the Keyport area.

Rich is survived by his son Ryan Burnett, siblings Ralph Burnett (Karyn), Mary-Ellyn Burnett, Bob Burnett (Laura) and Pat Hoefling (Mike), his long-time girlfriend Roxanne Ciszewski, also his former wife Karen Ruffino, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Joan Burnett.

To know Rich was to love him—his humor was truly one of a kind, and you had to know him personally to appreciate it. Rich had a passion for conversation, especially about politics and the "good old days," which he loved sharing with his beloved son, Ryan. He spoke with pride about the times they spent together—coaching football, visiting amusement parks, golfing, and boogie boarding. Those memories were among his most cherished.

Rich was a man who enjoyed working with his hands. Whether it was tackling projects with Steve Masterson, Bobby Atlas, Emelio, or alongside his best friend Wayne, he found joy in helping family and neighbors. He also loved life's simple pleasures—riding his bike along the Henry Hudson Trail or the waterfront, and when that wasn't possible, relaxing by the beach. He loved the simple pleasures of life, good music, good food, cooking and sharing meals and skiing with family and friends.

Rich's life was defined by his love, his close friendships, and his ability to make every moment count. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
