Richard W Cray, age 81, of Westfield, passed away peacefully Monday evening, August 25, at his daughter's residence. He was born January 24th, 1944, in Holyoke, a son to John and Mary Cray.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Cray, and their beloved son, Tony Cray.

Richard and Patricia were devoted to each other for 46 years of marriage and their life together was filled with adventure. They enjoyed yearly summer vacations with their children to Lake Winnipesaukee, Cape Cod, or Disney world, and weekends of boating, hiking in their own back yard and cooking hot dogs over an open fire. They also loved traveling and laughing with a group of friends who were very dear to them.

They supported each other personally and professionally. Richard retired from Dee Service, in Agawam Ma, after many years serving as the office manager, and was always eager to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. Patricia's true passion was advocating for, and working with, children. She did so in any capacity she could throughout her life, including initiating a successful campaign to allow girls to become members of the then Westfield Boys Club, which later became the Boys and Girls club of Greater Westfield.

They are survived by their daughter, Mary-Lynne of Westfield; their son, Daniel and his wife, Jennifer of Grafton; their grandchildren Emily, Thomas, Ella, and AJ; their life-long friend, Skip Couture; and many other dear family and friends.

In keeping with their wishes, formal funeral services will not be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baystate Hospice, the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System, or The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Westfield.
