Richard "Dick" Emerson Felder, II passed away peacefully at his home in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, on October 11, 2025, with his family by his side.
Dick was born at Griffin Spaulding Co. hospital in Griffin, Georgia to Dr. Louis H. Felder and Mary Joann Marshall Felder on July 30, 1955. He attended D.F. McClatchey Elementary School, Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, The Galloway School and Woodward Academy, where he was part of the graduating class of 1973. Dick's college years were spent at Mercer University in Macon, GA, and he graduated from Valdosta State College in Valdosta, GA.
For more than 37 years, Dick worked in many roles for Snapper Power Equipment in McDonough, excelling in all facets of sales and ultimately serving as Executive Vice President of Sales. Unwilling to retire, Dick brought his talents to Rotary Corporation in Glennville, GA, a family-owned, world-class manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket outdoor power equipment parts, where he became Director of Dealer Development for seven more years before retiring in February 2024.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman who cherished the mountains, rivers, lakes and wildlife. He excelled in freestyle "trick" water skiing on Lake Lanier, dominated numerous sport fishing tournaments for largemouth bass, and tackled the epic, rolling rapids while whitewater rafting on many of Idaho's most challenging rivers.
It was on Idaho's Middle Fork of the Salmon River where Dick met his match, the nearly unnavigable Class III rapid called Jackass, a harrowing whitewater cascade that leaves many surfing and swimming, but not Dick. He conquered that torrent like a pro, with skill and endurance that reflected his character in all of life's challenges.
Dick was one of the most energetic, passionate, intelligent and positive individuals his countless friends had the privilege of knowing. He loved Georgia Tech football and bass fishing at his Lake Seminole "fish camp." He loved Stanley, Idaho, and floating the rivers of the West. Dick was part teacher, part preacher, and part entertainer—but whole in his values, honesty, and sincerity.
Dick was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Louis Homer Felder, M.D., and his mother, Joann M. Felder. He is survived by his siblings, Robert Marshall Felder, Allyn Felder Timberlake (Jim), and Mary Lane Felder; his nieces and nephew, Louis Dillon Timberlake (Kate), Kathryn Neal Hopkins (Corey), Joanne Marshall Wade (Thomas), and Margaret Allyn Timberlake; and by four grandnieces and a great-nephew: John Felder Timberlake, Emerson Ruth Timberlake, Charlie Jane Hopkins, and Nora Swan Wade.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dick's many dear friends for their love and steadfast companionship. Special appreciation is also offered to the exceptional and compassionate staff of the Winship Cancer Institute and Emory University Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glennville Recreation Department, 320 Veterans Dr., Glennville, Georgia 30427 Attn: Chris Roessler.
