Richard Earl Blackston, affectionately known as Ricky, passed away on October 20, 2025, in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Born on February 12, 1960, in Columbus, Georgia, Ricky lived a full and spirited life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and an infectious sense of humor.

Ricky devoted 45 years of his life to working as a propane service worker in the state of Mississippi. His strong work ethic and commitment to his trade earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Whether navigating back roads or servicing rural homes, Ricky took pride in doing his job well and with integrity.

Those who knew Ricky will remember him as a loving father, brother, son, and friend. He is survived by his son Jeffery Blackson; daughter Shelby Blackston; girlfriend Cathy Horn; sisters Darlene Casteel (Jimmy), Sheila Walton (Thomas), and Kelly Walton (Adam); and his dear friend-brother Waymon Waller. He also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins whom he loved dearly.

Ricky was preceded in death by his father Robert Blackston; mother Vivian Walton; father Alvin Walton; and ex-wife Dana Blackson.

Known for being a jokester with a quick wit and a big heart, Ricky brought laughter wherever he went. He had a lifelong passion for fast cars and was widely admired for his driving skills—many would say no one could handle a car quite like Ricky. He cherished time spent with family and friends, often over long conversations accompanied by his favorite coffee or a cold Pepsi.

May the memory of Richard Earl "Ricky" Blackston bring comfort to all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 1, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 06:00 PM at Sisters house (Darlene Casteel) 154 Lee Rd 500, Phenix City, AL 36870
