Richard Phillips Jr.

Richard Phillips Jr., born on March 2, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, in his hometown of Boston. He was 82 years old.

Richard spent his life rooted in the city where he was born, building a career and community that reflected his dedication and warmth. He retired from Bank of America after many years of service as the mailroom supervisor. Richard took great pride in his work and found joy in the daily interactions with colleagues and visitors alike. His friendly nature left a lasting impression on those he met, and many of the connections he made during his time at the bank remained strong long after his retirement.

Family was central to Richard's life. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Richard Jones; bonus children Lollie, Demetrious, Melissa, Juanita, and Jennifer; grandchildren Mishe'le, Treana, Tyler, Maya, Jackson, and Harlow; and great-grandchild Celiciana. His presence will also be missed by his niece and nephews—Ray, Eric, Jamie, Tori, Craig, and Chris—who shared many cherished moments with him over the years.

Richard was predeceased by his beloved parents, Richard and Cecelia Phillips; siblings Victor Phillips, Raymond Phillips, and Teresa Phillips; and daughter Cecelia "Gigi "Jones.

In his later years, Richard found happiness in simple pleasures. He especially enjoyed going out to eat with his grandchildren—especially if Tyler cooked. A tradition that brought him immense joy. A devoted football fan, he rarely missed a game. He also loved visiting Walmart and Ocean State Job Lot for everyday treasures and conversation.

Richard's life was one of quiet strength and enduring connection. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
