Born on April 10, 1966, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Richard "Rick" Strelecki could light up any room with his uncanny ability to make people laugh. Rick grew up in Cresskill, New Jersey, with his siblings and cousins, adding a touch of good-hearted mischief to many family gatherings and adventures. He enjoyed family skiing and camping trips, vacations to Disney World, and good times spent on the beaches and boardwalks of the Jersey Shore. Underneath all the humor, Rick was a kind and generous guy, deeply loved by his family and many friends.
After graduating from Cresskill High School in 1984, Rick worked as a cable technician before his career as a master plumber, a job that suited his hands-on skills and craftsmanship.
Rick lived in Northern New Jersey throughout his life. He cherished time spent with his family and friends, whether it was around the dinner table or holding court at his favorite watering hole. Rick was passionate about cars and motorcycles and enjoyed attending NASCAR races with his brothers and friends. Like his dad, he was a long-suffering, yet dedicated Jets fan and a gifted artist. Rick loved dogs and adopted many rescue dogs throughout his life.
Rick left us far too soon on October 24, 2025. His quick wit and quirky sense of humor stayed with him until the end. Rick is survived by his siblings, Lynn, Ray (Ronda) and Mark; his nephews John (Rachel), Matt, Adam and Kyle; his Aunt Eileen, and many dear cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Richard and Evelyn Strelecki.
A private family gathering to celebrate Rick's life will be held in the coming weeks. In his honor, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or your local animal adoption center.
And the next time something unexpected makes you laugh... a clever prank or a moment of absurdity, think of Rick and smile.
Cheers, Rick! You were one of a kind, and you were loved.
