Robert J. Caddell of New Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 at the age of 90. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Robert's gentle spirit, sharp mind, and unwavering kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Born on February 13, 1935, to Walter and Rosetta Caddell, Robert grew up in Ossining, NY with a strong sense of family and a lifelong curiosity for the world around him. He graduated from Cooper Union and later earned his master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), setting the stage for a fulfilling career in civil engineering.
On November 17, 1962, Robert married Margaret Susan Doherty. Robert was a loving father to Neil (wife Kate), Stephanie (husband Mike), and Lynn (husband Chris). He was a proud grandfather to Emma, Heather, Charlotte, and Kyle. Robert is survived by his sister Kathy and predeceased by his brother Walter and sister Judy. Robert was a man who found joy in the company of animals. He shared his life with many beloved companions over the years, including Charlie the cat, treasured horse Spike, and a loyal pack of dogs—Quincy, Sammy, Brody, and Cubby—each one a testament to his gentle and caring nature.
Robert's life was marked by quiet integrity, deep devotion to family, and a heart open to both people and animals. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by those who had the privilege to know him.
A private family service will be held to honor Robert's life.
