Robert “Bob” Hoffman, of Severna Park, Maryland, passed away suddenly on September 30, 2025, at the age of 71, from a brain aneurysm, with his loving family by his side.

Born on September 7, 1954, in Annapolis, Maryland, Bob was the beloved son of the late John Robert and Evelyn Hoffman. He was a lifelong resident of Severna Park, where he built a wonderful life surrounded by family, friends, and his cherished community of Fairwinds on the Severn. Bob graduated from Severna Park High School in 1973 where he played on the varsity football and wrestling teams then attended Anne Arundel Community College.

Bob began his career with McLean Contracting Company in 1979. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for over 42 years. In his career with McLean he was on the crew to build the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, the Riva Road Bridge, the Choptank River Bridge, the Kent Narrows Bridge, and the Chincoteague Bridge. He also dredged various locations in the Baltimore and Chesapeake Bay region to include the Inner Harbor and Poplar Island. He was known for his incredible work ethic, dedication, and dependability. Bob took great pride in his work and was admired for his skill and commitment on every job.

Bob found his greatest joy in life’s simplest pleasures. He loved spending time with his family and his love for sports continued as he cheered for his grandkids from the sidelines. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and taking drives to the Eastern Shore where he appreciated the slower pace of life. He loved traveling and boating, especially enjoying peaceful sunset cruises along the Severn River. Bob cherished the many summer vacations spent with all of his children and grandchildren at Disney, Bethany Beach and Seabrook Island. He also loved fishing, hunting, and splitting wood and built a roaring fire every night thru out the winter months.

Bob and his devoted wife, Megan, enjoyed 47 wonderful years of marriage -a lifetime filled with love, happiness, and the joy of raising a beautiful family together. Bob is survived by his 3 children and their 10 beloved grandchildren. His daughter Tricia Joseph and her husband Ian and their 3 children; Maggie, Tighe and Henry. His son, Robert Hoffman and his wife Tiffany and their 3 children; Bo (Robert), Emmett and Mia and his daughter Michaela Pitocco and her husband Scott and their 4 children; Chase, Mason, Gabriella and Gianna.

In addition, Bob is survived by his sister Lynn and his brother- in- law Art Hagood, who was like a brother to him. Bob always enjoyed being part of a large family and loved his brothers and sister in laws like siblings: Maureen Lalley and her husband John; Hayes Merkert and his wife Molly; Tighe Merkert and his wife Irene; The late Bobby Merkert and his wife Kathleen, Tricia Bell and her husband Brad and Tommy Merkert and his wife Stephanie. He is also survived by his 19 nieces and nephews, whom he adored and loved deeply.

Bob will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his generosity, his incredible work ethic and the laughter and warmth he brought to every gathering.
