Robert Allen McCleskey
December 26, 1947 - October 8, 2025
Robert "Bob" Allen McCleskey, age 77, of Liberty Hill, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in Duluth, Minnesota, while on an RV adventure with his wife Kathy. Our broken hearts are lifted knowing he joins his beloved daughter Shannon in heaven. Known affectionately as Bob, he lived each day with honor, generosity, and love. Bob is remembered as a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother-in-law and friend.
Born on December 26, 1947 to Fred Allen and Roselene Cummings McCleskey in Coleman Texas, Bob graduated from Abilene Cooper High School, McMurry College, and the Florida Institute of Technology. In December 1971, Bob was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Signal Corps. A gifted leader, he served his country proudly and faithfully and retired after 20 years of service as a Lieutenant Colonel.
During his military career Bob received numerous medals, awards and accolades including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Army Commendation Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster. Bob successfully completed an unaccompanied tour in Korea and two accompanied tours to Germany during the height of the Cold War.
Following his retirement from the Army, Bob continued his career in technology and service - working as a government contractor at Fort Hood, Texas. Bob then transitioned to a career in real estate, managing a back-office business for realtors. Always learning, Bob capitalized on commercial drone technology, successfully providing aerial photography to numerous financial institutions across the state of Texas.
A steadfast leader in his community, Bob contributed his time and expertise as a board member of The Christi Center, a grief support organization in Austin, TX, as well as other community organizations in and around the area.
Bob's life forever changed in 1969, when he met Kathleen Henderson, his adored wife of 55 years. Together, Bob and Kathy built a strong, loving, marriage that resulted in the birth of their two children, Sean 'Pat' McCleskey and Shannon McCleskey. They shared a deep love of travel and adventure together exploring nearly every corner of the United States in a series of campers. Over the years, Bob and Kathy visited 49 of the 50 states (only missing Iowa), five continents, and five Canadian provinces.
Through life's ups, downs, and even the unthinkable, Bob and Kathy's love for each other never wavered. Frequently rocking together on their porch, their closeness was a quiet testament to the enduring partnership they shared.
Bob greeted everyone with a smile, a story and a laugh. He will always be remembered for his warmth and kindness toward everyone he knew.
Surviving him are his wife Kathleen McCleskey of Liberty Hill, Texas, son Sean 'Pat' (Erin) McCleskey of Cedar Park, Texas, and his granddaughters Molly and Delaney. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon McCleskey; his brother, Glenn Franklin McCleskey; his parents, Fred and Rose McCleskey; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Henderson.
