Robert G Meeks Jr
Bobby was the ultimate entrepreneur. Born August 30th 1942 in Dublin, Ga to Elaine and RG Meeks Sr. Later moving to the Orlando area, he graduated from Boone High School in 1960.
Bobby never went to college; he started work at age 15 at Publix Super Markets. Later became a truck driver and processor at Turner and Gee. This is where he gained his love of the meat business. He worked his way up and joined Knickerbocker Foods as their top salesman. When Knickerbocker was sold to another company and they stripped the company, that is when Bobby started Royalty Foods. Most of the former workers came to join him and when the former company was selling off assets and furniture, he bought his old desk which had still has in his office today. He built Royalty Foods up to the premier “center of the plate” supplier to Disney, Darden and most of the top restaurants throughout the State of Florida and the Southeast. Later selling the company to Sysco Foods to focus on his real estate business; Many who knew him dubbed him the “King of Narcoossee Rd”.
One of his greatest joys was helping others to be successful and grow their businesses. Many of his tenants, former employees and local business owners would come and visit Bobby to hear his pearls of wisdom.
Family was paramount for Bobby. Married to Carole Sanborn Meeks for the past 41 years, he was previously wed to Beverly Eure Phillips. Helping raise five children over the years, Travis Meeks and Danny Geisler predeceased; Cheree Foreman (Doug), David Geisler (Margaret), Angie Strasberg (Mike). In addition Bobby had eight Grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, Danielle, Drew, Cole, Anna, Chase, Nicole and Savannah. Also survived by his loving sister, Elzine “Sity” Meeks Crews (Jerry).
Over the years Bobby had the opportunity to work with Carole, David and Margaret at Royalty Foods and later with Angie and Cheree growing their industrial warehouse and storage businesses.
Bobby was a member of the Freemason, Shriners International and the Baptist Church.
Bobby passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday October 18th.
