Scotty Ward, a beloved husband, father, and pharmacist, passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on December 29, 1935, in Birmingham, Alabama, Scotty lived a life filled with love, family, and dedication.
After serving in the Army in Korea from 1955 to 1957, Scotty put himself through pharmacy school and worked in the field well into his seventies. A passionate football player and fan, he played as an offensive lineman at Florida State and Howard University.
Scotty is survived by his sons, Rod Scott Ward Jr. (Heather Hodavance Ward) of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and Wesley Wade Ward (Sandra Crabb Ward) of Chesapeake, Virginia. His sons and grandchildren were his proudest achievements: Robert Clifton Ward, a College of William & Mary junior; Samuel Vance Ward, an offensive lineman at South County High School; Anne Harper Ward, a middle school English teacher; and Elizabeth Montague "Libbie" Ward, serving in the Peace Corps in Paraguay.
Scotty cherished his time with his late wife, Clyde B. Ward, whom he married in June 2012 and lost in 2017. He was also a devoted member of several non-denominational churches in Virginia Beach and Pleasant Grove, Alabama.
