Roger Herman Kessler

Roger Herman Kessler, 97, of Camano Island, Washington died on October 13, 2025 in hospital.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan July 30, 1928, Roger graduated from the University of Michigan. He received his Master's from Northern Arizona University. he started work fir Proctor & Gamble which brought him to Sacramento. He then followed his wife into teaching. He taught Mathematics and ran the long distance track team at Highlands High School, North Highlands , CA. He severed as head of the Northern California Mathematics Council. He and his wife, Irene, moved to Camano in 1999.
Roger was an avid golfer, winning his first tournament at the age of 8 in Ann Arbor.he was involved for years in North Ridge Country Club in Sacramento remaining club champion for several years. He was an active volunteer for Camaloch Golf Club Men's group and participant in the men's travel group. Roger was also a decorated 2 mile distance runner, basketball player, and bowler. He joined his family backpacking in the Sierra and Grand Teton mountains with Boy Scout Explorer Post 221.
Roger was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene. He is survived by his children Rex Kessler (Sharlie) and Joanne (Annie) Wilson (Dave), his 2 grandchildren Michael, Jessica and 4 great grandchildren and his second wife Marsha.
Roger will be remembered for his humor, fiece sense of competition and willingness to help when needed. He will be greatly missed.
In accordance with his will there will be no service.
