In Loving Memory of Roger Louis "Butch" Massaro June 9, 1944- November 10, 2025

It is with heavy hearts, profound sadness, and enduring love that we announce the passing of Roger Louis Massaro a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on November 10, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family who loved him most.
Born in Hartford, CT on June 9, 1944, the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Ulitsch) Massaro. Roger lived a full life marked by love, service, and unwavering dedication to family and country. He served with honor in the United States Army, 1961-1964. His service was a testament to his strength of character.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Lynn (Carucci) Massaro, who were married September 23, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Church in Hartford and recently celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary. They lived in Hartford, settling in Manchester in 1972, raising three daughters. As a husband to Lynn, he shared a bond built on deep affection and mutual respect, a partnership that stood the test of time and inspired all who knew them. As a father, he led by example—teaching the value of hard work, kindness, and humility. His children knew they could always count on his steady hand and open heart.
After serving his country, Roger worked as a Mechanic and later owned his own Upholstery business (Roger's Upholstery in Manchester) until retiring in 2015. He was respected for not only his skill with cars but for his generosity as well. He believed in hard work, honesty and treating everyone with dignity - values he passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He found joy in Cars, especially old cars, working on and restoring them, going to car shows and swap meets. He loved to go camping. His favorite place was Moosemeadow Camping Resort, in West Willington. He called it his second home and loved the people. He also loved to give treats to all the camping dogs. Roger is remembered for spending time with family, attending many school and sport activities, sponsoring Little League for his grandkids, building campfires, working on cars, and teaching his daughters about them, while helping change brakes and rebuild engines in the yard. He was always there for Lynn, even when they would bicker it was always in love. Their love is a testament to partnership, resilience, and devotion.

Roger is survived by his devoted wife Lynn, who was by his side every day. His cherished daughters Lisa Massaro, Brenda and Marco LaCaprucia, and Tina and Robert Croteau. His four grandchildren - Scott Cofiell II, Allisyn Blinn, Samantha and Toby Sullivan, and Abbie and Cory Gallagher. His ten great-grandchildren - Charlotte Cofiell, Madisyn, Isabela, Emmaleigh, Gabryana and Rhealyn Blinn, Tanner and Natilly Sullivan, Logan and Landon Gallagher. As well as his newly rescued dog, Lola. All of whom will carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and strength. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we had and the memories we hold dear. He was also predeceased by his two young brothers, Father in-law Joseph Carucci, Sister in-law and Brother in-law Venly and Thomas O'Donnell, Nephew Tommy O'Donnell, Cousin and dear friend Joyce Alexander, Cousins Calvin Ulitsch and Rocco Massaro Jr. and his faithful dog Jake. He will be missed by family and friends.
A special thank you to all the staff at St. Francis Hospital CICU - your care and kindness will never be forgotten. Special thanks to Leanne, for her love and friendship given to both Roger and Lynn.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held on December 6th at Herrick Park Lodge, Bolton, CT, 29 Hebron Rd, from 12 noon to 4 pm.
We will miss him every day, but we take comfort in knowing that his love surrounds us still — in the stories we tell, the lessons we live, and the quiet moments when we feel him nearby. Rest in peace. You are deeply loved, and you will be forever missed.
