Send Flowers Plant A Tree

Ronald Joe Rosenstein passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. He was born on September 29, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa to Lewis and Gertrude Rosenstein, the middle of three children. Ron spent his early years in Marshalltown, Iowa before his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in the 1950s.

After graduating high school, Ron built a career as a respiratory therapist, dedicating himself to helping others breathe a little easier. He later found success as a licensed insurance agent after moving to Tucson, Arizona where he continued to make meaningful connections with the people he met.

In 1977, Ron married Valerie Atkinson (Randall) and became the proud father of two daughters, Alexis Rochelle and Alayne Renee. His girls were the light of his life—always "Daddy's little girls," and they will forever be his princesses.

After their marriage ended, Ron found love again with his longtime partner, Carmen Stearns in the early 2000s. Together they shared over two decades of love, laughter, and adventure. They made their home in El Paso, Texas where they raised many beloved dogs and filled their lives with travel, joy, and companionship. Ron was welcomed in to Carmen's family and gained amazing kids, grandkids and in-laws.

Ron treasured every visit with his daughters and grandchildren, and especially loved traveling with them to explore the beauty our National Parks. Ron was happiest outdoors—camping, hiking, and soaking in the peace of nature. He adored animals, and every one of his dogs was treated like family. When he wasn't at the dog park, you could often find him under the hood of a car, working on one of his vehicles with the same patience and care he gave to everything in life.

Health and wellness were important to Ron—he loved to stay active, eat fresh fruits and veggies, and keep moving. But what truly stood out about him was his heart. He had a natural warmth that drew people in and a genuine kindness that made everyone feel seen and valued. He was a wonderful listener, a loyal friend, and someone who cared deeply about the people around him.

Ron is survived by his beloved partner, Carmen Stearns; his daughters Alexis (Verlan) Shaw of Paola, Kansas, and Alayne Rosenstein of Bend, Oregon; his grandchildren Annabelle Shaw and Gavin Shaw both of Paola, Kansas; and his sisters Francine (George) Miller of Montana; and Ann Draher of Missouri. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday October 25th at 11am at The MonteVista at Coronado, 1575 Belvidere St. El Paso, TX 79912.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Mid America Boston Terrier Rescue at AdoptABoston.com
