Rose Marie (Kucsera) Vars
July 8, 1936 – November 1, 2025
Rose Marie (Kucsera) Vars, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully in Milford Connecticut on November 1, 2025 at the age of 89.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Rose spent her early childhood in California lovingly raised by her aunt. She later returned to Connecticut to live with her father and brother. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Rose met the love of her life, Roger Vars, in 1956. Together they built a beautiful life in Easton where they lived for over 40 years.
Rose and Roger were active members of the Pequonnock Yacht Club, the Germania Schwaben Club, and were long-time devoted members of Unity Hill United Church of Christ, where Rose served on many committees. Her love of art was evident in the many paintings she created over the years each reflecting her creativity and spirit.
After raising her children Rose began a successful career in the financial industry working at Smith Barney and proudly earning her Series 7 license. She retired in 1998. Rose and Roger shared a life full of adventure traveling to over 50 countries during their 55 years of marriage.
Rose was predeceased by her devoted husband Roger Vars, her daughter Kathy Yalof of Cheshire, CT, and her great-granddaughter Aubrey Vars of Morris Plains, NJ.
She is survived by her brother Paul Kucsera of Carrolton, GA, her son David Vars and his wife Radhika of Lake Hiawatha, NJ, her son-in-law Clay Yalof of Milford, and her daughter Sherri Miller and her husband Alan of Rowayton, six cherished grandchildren, a granddaughter in law—Samantha, Curran (Roz), Ashley, Rowan, Michele, and Eric, two great-grandchildren—Emmitt and Gabrielle, and several nieces and nephews.
Rose will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Unity Hill United Church of Christ, 364 White Plains Road, Trumbull CT with Rev. M. Todd Shipley officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.
