Roseana Ketchens, a proud lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on November 11, 2025, having lived life fully and entirely on her own terms. Born on June 15, 1951, Roseana embodied the very essence of the Crescent City: a free spirit who moved at her own rhythm, unbothered by conventional ways, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, be it good food, R&B and blues music, or simply being with those she loved. She truly loved to let the good times roll, or as they say in her beloved city, "Laissez les bons temps rouler."
An independent and vibrant woman, Roseana's memory will be cherished by her loving family and a host of friends.
She is survived by her devoted children: Tracy Ketchens, Jennifer Ketchens, and Roslyn Ketchens. Her legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mercedes Lang, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Roseana is preceded in death by her beloved son, James Ketchens; her spouse, Pertis McGee; her parents, Juanita Monroe and Charles Martin; and her siblings, Bernice, Rosalee, MaryAnn, Stella Mae, and O'Donald.
A private ceremony will be held to celebrate Roseana's unique spirit and vibrant life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by donating to your local Humane Society.
