October 5, 1928 - September 22, 2025
Rosemary (D'Angelo) Noia passed away peacefully, holding the hands of her family on September 22, 2025 at home in San Diego, California. She was 96 years old.
She was born at home on her mother's birthday, October 5, 1928, in the small town of Exeter, Pennsylvania. They soon moved to Little Italy in the Bronx, New York, where her family of Italian immigrants established their legacy. Rosemary would carry the rich culture of that neighborhood through all her years.
She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1947, where she developed her deep love of the arts. She worked many years as a seamstress, sometimes making half a penny for every zipper installed, then went on to work for a senior living facility as the recreational director. She was on the board of directors for The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, through which she raised money for various projects in her community.
Her most lasting work was growing a family with the love of her life, Mathew Noia. Their first date was on Easter at the New York Botanical Gardens, where Mathew would later have a bench dedicated to his life and legacy as a father. Rosemary and Mathew got married on May 31, 1952 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and had three children and many happy years together.
After Mathew passed away in 2002, she bravely began a new chapter in Delray Beach, Florida, where she spent 15 years enjoying warm days by the pool with her friends. She spent her last 5 years in San Diego, under the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, whose home became filled with puzzles, butterfly paraphernalia, crooner's albums, and Rosemary's unmistakable love.
Rosemary was a was a beloved friend and matriarch with unmatched energy that kept her running circles around everyone. She was a social butterfly who loved to clean and dance and make art. She filled every room with one-liners, laughter and song, right up until her last days. She leaves behind a glowing legacy, alive in the hearts of all those she touched.
She was predeceased by her parents Maria and Guiseppe D'Angelo and siblings: Angela, Dorothy, Vincent, Lorenzo and Virginia.
She is survived by her children: Dennis (Jeanne), Lauren (Thomas), and David (Donna); by her grandchildren: Justin (Gina), Brandon (Mycah), Arielle (Alan), Andreana, Mathew (Carolyn), and Marisa; and her great-grandchildren: Lolek, Aurelius, Chionia, Rosemary, Camille, and the ones still on their way.
