Ruben Lugo, 83, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, in St. George, Utah. Born on January 25, 1942, in Puerto Rico, Ruben lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, adventure and a deep love for the outdoors. He retired after 35 years as a foreman for the Salt Lake Public Works Dept.

Ruben was known for his fun-loving spirit and outgoing nature. He had an infectious laugh that seemed to rise from his very soul—when Ruben laughed, it was as if joy itself echoed from his toes. He embraced life with open arms and was always up for a good time. Whether he was dancing on the bandstand or anywhere that had music, casting a line into the water, riding horses through open fields, or camping at his favorite lake, Panquitch Lake , Ruben found happiness in nature and in the company of his family and friends.

He especially cherished hunting and fishing—activities that brought him both peace and excitement—and he never missed an opportunity to share stories about his adventures. One of his favorite memories was his trip to New York, which he often recalled with great enthusiasm.
Ruben's life was also defined by dedication and resilience. A hardworking man through and through, he approached every task with determination and heart. His ability to connect with people made him a joy to be around; meeting new people wasn't just something he enjoyed—it was something at which he truly excelled.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Elsie; three daughters: Karee, Kelly, and Sandy; two sons: Rusty and Mark; three stepchildren: Doug, Danny, and Shauna; four brothers; six sisters; 16 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren. His family was a source of great pride and joy throughout his life.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Maria; his second wife, Sydney Peck Lugo; his brother Pete; his sister Gladys and numerous friends.

Ruben's legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, the stories he told, and the countless memories held dear by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and warmth to all who loved him. A private ceremony for immediate family will be held. We appreciate your love and support at this time.
