It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruth Anne Joslin, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, on September 28, 2025, in Evanston, Illinois.
Born on August 14, 1945, in Moline, Illinois, to the late Ralph and Jeanette Moody, Ruth’s life was one of warmth, positivity, intelligence and grace. A proud graduate of Loyola University in Chicago, she built a successful career and was a dedicated employee at Toshiba for over 20 years.
Ruth was best known as a great friend, a dear sister and an exceptional mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and member of several library book clubs, looked forward to her "Mahjong Mondays" and lunching with friends, and found immense joy in visiting the Chicago Botanic Gardens, especially when accompanied by her granddaughters.
Above all, Ruth’s greatest joy was her family. She was the devoted mother of Eliot Joslin (Rebecca) and Amy Joslin (Matthew Gardner). She cherished her role as "Grandma" and showered her granddaughters, Isobel and Ophelia Joslin, and Hope Gardner, with unconditional love. They were the lights of her life.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Jane Sissing (the late Gordon Sissing), and her brother, Gerald Moody. Ruth was also a beloved aunt to Jane’s children, Michelle Koglin, Michael Sissing and Marc Sissing. She will be deeply missed by her many friends whose lives she touched with her quiet strength, kindness and unwavering dedication to family.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lakeview Center, 800 Gillson Park Drive, Wilmette, IL 60091.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Chicago Botanic Garden in her memory would be a welcome gesture, honoring a place that brought her so much happiness.
