Sally Anne Peterson (Burris) passed away on November 1, 2025, in Mooresville, North Carolina after a short illness. She was 96 years old.
Born on October 14, 1929, in Niles, MI, Sally was the daughter of Larkin and Verna (Luth) Burris. She spent her youth in Niles. After high school graduation, she attended Michigan State College for two years and majored in Home Economics. While at MSC, she met and married Paul Peterson on September 18, 1949. He predeceased Sally in 2012.
While raising her 5 children and following Paul’s career moves, the family lived in Indiana, Ohio, the Muskegon area and Belgium. Late in Paul’s career, the couple also lived in Mexico.
Sally’s interest in interior design led to employment during the 1970s at The Concord House in Muskegon, MI. She later co-owned an interior design business, The Finishing Touch, in Grand Haven, MI during the 1980s.
Sally was an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Muskegon, MI for sixty-five years, and was involved over those years in numerous church initiatives and activities.
Sally loved traveling the world after the family had grown, and she and Paul visited every continent except Antarctica. They also believed in giving back to the community and were supporters of numerous local and national nonprofit organizations.
Sally’s five children survive her: Eric Peterson (Sandra); Jon Peterson (LeAnn); Laura Kahler; Lisa Peterson; and Jill Grigorian (Jon). She also leaves six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Sally will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 1011 Second St., Muskegon, MI, at 11a.m. on November 18, 2025.
