Sandra B. "Sandy" Gudaitis (née Orr), age 80, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, surrounded by her family in Providence, Rhode Island—the city where she was born on July 24, 1945
Sandy was the beloved wife of Alan J. Gudaitis, whose partnership she cherished deeply. She was a devoted mother to her daughter Robin Copeland and son-in-law Harold Copeland, always offering unwavering love and support. Sandy embraced her role as a caring and compassionate stepmother to Lisa Goozey and Alan Gudaitis Jr., always providing love and guidance whenever needed. Above all, she found joy in being a grandmother to her Grandson, Brenden Copeland, who lit up her heart.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Sandy was one of nine siblings in the Orr family. She shared deep bonds with her brothers and sisters: Charles (Robin) Orr, Joanne Khoury, Mary Lou (Charles) Ackert, Gilbert (Lynne) Orr, Lynn (Gary) Cooney, Donald Orr, Michelle Orr, and Andrea (Steve) Andrews. She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert H. Orr and Fernande V. Orr (Remington).
Those who knew Sandy will remember her as smart, fun, caring, entertaining, and wonderfully talkative. Her warmth and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Whether she was sharing stories with family or offering words of encouragement, Sandy had a remarkable gift for making people feel truly seen and heard.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026 to honor Sandy's memory and the joy she brought to so many. Details to follow.
May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.
