Sarah C. Barber, aged 93, passed away on November 5, 2025, in LaGrange, KY. Born on August 24, 1932, Sarah was beloved by her family and friends.
Sarah graduated from Shamokin High School in 1950 and later attended Stroudsburg University. She embarked on a fulfilling career at PSU University in the College of Health and Human Development, from which she retired in 1981.
An avid sports fan, Sarah's enthusiasm for PSU football, wrestling and professional tennis was well-known. Sarah also found joy in daily crossword puzzles and sudoku, challenging her mind even in her later years. Above all, Sarah loved her family and friends and was known for her kindness and generosity.
Sarah enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life including reading, playing bridge, croquet, golf, biking, and swimming. She loved a competitive bridge game and was an excellent player.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Barber, and her parents, Catherine and Charles Petrie Sr., as well as her brothers Charles Petrie Jr., and Donald (Bud) Petrie. She is survived by her children, Suzanne Croco, David Barber, Robin Barber, and Stacey Reitz as well as her sister, Jane Edmiston, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her deeply.
Sarah's life was a beautiful example of love, resilience, and kindness. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
