Dr. Scott Peter Roberts, age 69, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Media, Pennsylvania. Born on May 17, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Scott lived a life marked by intellectual curiosity, creative passion, and deep devotion to his family.
Scott's academic journey began at the University of South Florida, where he earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master's degrees in Philosophy. His pursuit of knowledge led him to SUNY Buffalo State University, where he completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy. This foundation laid the groundwork for a lifelong commitment to education and critical thought.
For more than two decades, Scott played a pivotal role in the collaboration between the Annenberg Foundation and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. His work focused on developing educational media resources that enriched classrooms across the country—from K-12 schools to college campuses—helping teachers and students engage with complex ideas through accessible and innovative content.
Later in life, Scott returned to the classroom himself as an educator. He found great joy in teaching ethics to college students, including those at Villanova University. His thoughtful approach and quiet wisdom left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to learn from him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Scott was a man of many passions. He found solace and inspiration hiking through wooded trails while reflecting on the writings of Thoreau. A skilled woodworker and carver, he crafted everything from whimsical Santas and intricate puzzles to elegant Windsor chairs—each piece a testament to his patience and artistry.
As a grandfather, Scott delighted in sharing his love for nature and sport with his grandchildren. He relived his surfing days by teaching them how to boogie board and passed down his enthusiasm for basketball by both playing on the court and watching games together.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Donna Newman Roberts; his son Joseph Roberts and daughter-in-law Arlette; and his cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Juliet, and Amelia Roberts. He is also survived by his siblings Mark and Brooke Roberts.
Those who knew Scott will remember him for his love of learning, infectious laughter, and quiet kindness—a legacy that continues through the lives he touched both personally and professionally.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held on November 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Washington Memorial Chapel 2000 Valley Forge Park Rd. Following the funeral mass there will be a memorial reception at 307 North Wayne Avenue, Wayne Pennsylvania 19087 beginning at 12:30 PM.
