Shane Arden Wimmer — known to almost everyone as Wimmer — left this world on October 3, 2025, at the age of 45, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He took his first and last breath at the University of Utah Hospital.
Wimmer was the most magical person — truly one of a kind. He was the kind of guy who made everyone feel like they belonged. He had more friends than anyone could count, and somehow, he made each one feel like they were the most important. He never met a stranger.
Wimmer attended Murray High School, graduating in 1998, where he played both hockey and football, #31
He went on to attend college at Dixie State and later graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southern Utah University with a double major in Sports Medicine and Communication.
He loved to reminisce about the glory days — being crowned Mr. San Felipe on a trip to Mexico, and the thrill of going on The Price Is Right and sinking a winning putt, from the furthest line, to win a truck from Bob Barker.
He was a master storyteller, an avid advice-giver, a perfectionist, and a collector of people and moments. He loved music, laughter, long Wimmer talks, and the kind of nights that turn into memories. His spirit was wild, kind, and funny — the kind of soul that changes you just by knowing him.
He is survived by his mother Sherrie Wimmer and her husband Bill Cornell; his sister Tatiana Wimmer; nephew Porter; aunt and uncle Diane and Ken Killian; and cousin Cody.
A very special thanks goes to his wonderful friend Heidi Barlow, whose love and care meant so much to him during the past few years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Arden and Joan Wimmer, whom he loved dearly.
Those who knew Shane best will remember his laughter, his stories, and his words — the Wimmerisms that carried both humor and wisdom:
“You can’t have the sweet without the sour.”
“I don’t remember dates; my life is measured in chapters.”
“You gotta pay the fiddler if you wanna dance.”
“Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.”
“I’ll catch you on the back nine.”
“Friends for life.”
“Ain’t it a shame… nothing lasts forever.”
“If you give a piece of your heart away, you never get it back.”
“Check your ego at the door!”
“That’s not honesty, that’s complete transparency.”
“I’m not everyone’s cup of tea — but I may be your shot of tequila.”
“Try it; if you don’t like it, you can spit it out!”
“Jesus, Louise-us, Alice!”
“Love and light.”
A celebration of Shane’s life will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 2–5 p.m. in Daron and Joslyn’s backyard, 4531 Butterfield Circle, Taylorsville, Utah 84123 — where friends and loved ones will gather to share stories, music, and love, the things he gave so freely.
Shane’s presence will be felt in every laugh, every story, every song, and every memory shared that day.
