On the Ninth of August 2025 (16 Av 5785), our hearts were shattered with the passing of Sharon Debra Neifeld (z”l), a truly cherished friend who brought kindness, happiness, laughter, and joy into the lives of everyone graced enough to have known her. She departed this mortal coil following a brave five-year course of life-sustaining treatments. In her last moments, she was surrounded by friends and family. When she left us, finally she was released from her pain, but the memory of her inimitable talents, generous spirit, and laughter will last forever in the hearts of the friends and family who loved her.
Shari is survived by her brothers: Alan, Charles, and Robert; her sisters-in-law: Donna and Lori; her step-sister Lori Sue; her nieces: Avita, Elle, and Ana; and her friends: Danny, Donna, Bruce, Hank, Hinda, Angela, Jill, Eric, and Mark. Finally released from her agony to those who loved her, her spirit is more present than ever in our hearts. We prayed together when she suffered, and we held her close even as she ceased to breathe. We were blessed to know her and to love her. We are blessed to grieve for her so deeply, for she is not forgotten. She shall live on in our hearts and make us smile, still sending the gift of love from the world-to-come. The next time you see a butterfly, a wildflower, or a shining star in the pale blue light of the moon, remember dear Shari as she traverses the heavens in our fractured hearts.
Shari did not want us to be sad, but we did not want her to perish so soon. Our rivers of tears are just a reflection of how much she was loved. Her indominable spirit will live on in our hearts forever. In our hours of mourning, do let us honor Shari by perpetuating the loving-kindness, generosity, and joie de vivre, that she embodied to those whose lives she touched. Farewell, dearest friend we cared for so intensely. Words alone cannot fully express the depth of loss we feel. Learning to live without her will be our greatest challenge. May her blessed memory last forever.
