Sherri Lynn Gesin, 58, of Dallas, completed her journey on earth on September 28, 2025, following a nearly nine-year, courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 24, 1967, in Bethel Park, PA, Sherri moved to Freehold, NJ, at the age of 10. She attended the University of Delaware and following graduation, made Texas her home. A lifelong animal lover, Sherri's passion for rescue began early with her family's poodle, Brandy, and continued throughout her life. Her heart was always open to animals in need, and she shared her home with many beloved pets over the years. She was also known for her love of music, movies and great food, especially pie.
Sherri began her professional life in the music industry as a promoter before delving into data and analytics in 2000, starting as a Web Analyst for the American Heart Association. Over the years, she held a range of roles including Developer, Web Content Manager, Senior Analyst, and Director of Digital Analytics and Competitive Intelligence at Targetbase Marketing (Omnicom). A lifelong learner, she later shifted her focus to program management, working as a Project Manager for Adswerve (formerly Blast Consulting). As a Senior Project Manager, Sherri collaborated with the founders of Realize Analytics, an AI solutions company, where she met her friend, Josh. She continued to manage projects for Josh's businesses until her final days.
Known for her clever mind and direct approach, Sherri was a fierce advocate and mentor for junior colleagues. She gave freely of her time and insight, offering empowerment and support generously. Even during treatment, Sherri made a point to connect with and uplift others, often befriending and encouraging fellow chemo patients.
Sherri was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Gesin, and her cherished cats—Jerry, Nathan, Bruce, Gracie, Lucy, Maggie, and Stewart. She is survived by her sister, Laura Gesin, her nieces, Sarah Fadem and Faye Fadem, her beloved cats, Lily and Randy, and a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and mentees who were inspired by her strength, insight, and sharp wit. She was also a devoted honorary aunt to Oreo, Tai, Asher, and Beau—the dogs of her close friend, Christine Connolly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sherri's memory to Tzu Zoo Rescue (tzuzoorescue.com) or Take Me Home Pet Rescue (tmhpr.com).
