Shirley (Hatchell) Gregg, 83, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Courtland, California. Born on December 12, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Shirley lived a life filled with joy, adventure, and meaningful connections. A proud graduate of Galt High School in the Class of 1960, Shirley embraced life with an open heart and a vibrant spirit. Shirley married Norman Gregg on April 15, 1989 in Lake Tahoe. Together they found happiness in car shows and Hot August Nights, hunting excursions, road trips, cruises, and travel. Whether exploring new destinations or savoring quiet moments at home with a good book, Shirley delighted in both the big adventures and the simple pleasures. Shirley is lovingly remembered by her husband Norman; her sons Scott Nielsen and Greg Nielsen; her sisters Dorothy Wasser and Lela Heinrich; four stepdaughters; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and members of her community. A Memorial Gathering was held on September 22, 2025 at Silt Wine Company in Clarksburg, California. The luncheon brought together family and friends to celebrate the cherished memories and lasting impact of Shirley’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Courtland Fire Association at P.O. Box 163, Courtland, CA 95615. We will cherish her warm laugh, sweet smile, and kind spirit forever. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
