Send Flowers Plant A Tree
Solange Aurora Cheney passed away on October 4, 2025 after a long struggle with kidney failure. Her final moments were at peace, with family members beside her.

At the age of 18, Solange founded a school for children with disabilities in Brazil, her native country. The school is still providing services.

She married Glenn Cheney and in 1979 moved to Connecticut and became a United States citizen. After working in banking, she started her own company offering exportation services. Her work was always accurate and honest, and she was highly respected and appreciated by her clients.

She was the founder of a renowned store in New London, O! Brasil, which sold handmade products crafted by artisans in rural Brazil who had no other access to foreign markets.

In Hanover, where she has lived since 1993, she is known for her fabulous dinner parties, often featuring Brazilian dishes. Her flower gardens were as lovely as they were ambitious. Her friends and neighbors remember her as outspoken, headstrong, passionate, confident, loving and very attentive to friends. She touched many hearts.

Solange is survived by her husband Glenn, her son Ian, his wife Marinne, their sons Arden and Dylan, siblings Ludel, Glenda, Denka and Madara, and innumerable friends around the world. Her last act of generosity was to donate her remains to Yale Medical School.
