Sonja Irene Ongsiako

SONJA IRENE ONGSIAKO
May 22, 1938 - September 27, 2025

Sonja Ongsiako, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2025, at the age of 87.

Sonja was predeceased by her parents, Finnish immigrants Anselm and Alli Tujunen, her husband, Dr. Augusto Ongsiako, Jr., and her son John Gilbert Ongsiako. She is survived by her five children, Dr. Allen Ongsiako, Mark Ongsiako, William Ongsiako, Sharon Ongsiako Jackson, and Donna Ongsiako. She was grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Taryn, Brianna, Rebecca, Kiersten, Ally, Matthew, Christian, Catherine, Avery, Michael and Aiden. She was the great-grandmother of 8 children: Sophie, Sabrina, Dean, Vincent, Zoey, Max, Matteo and Jack. She leaves behind a lifelong friend, Yolanda, who was like a sister to her.

After growing up as an only child, Sonja became the heart of a large extended family along with her husband Augusto. Sonja was a wonderful cook who was always hosting large gatherings of family and friends. Her door was always open, especially for Sundays which were full of love and laughter and of course food! She will be missed by all of us!

Private services will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Lupus Foundation of America at lupus.org .
