Sonny Louis Cooper, III, 73, known to many as "Louie", passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2025.
Louie was born in Sarasota, FL in 1952, the oldest of three children. He spent his early childhood there until his family relocated to Tampa. Louie was a true Florida boy, enjoying the beach and all the outdoors had to offer, including surfing, fishing, and camping. He was an athlete who thrived on competition and excelled in any sport he played....and he knew it! He also carried on a love for car racing, like his father, who he tragically lost at age 7.
Louie graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1970 and learned the construction business immediately following. A few years later, he married his high school sweetheart, Diane (Allen), began a career at TECO, and started a family. Louie later learned that construction was in his blood and returned to the business. He would eventually own and operate his own successful swimming pool business.
The next chapter of Louie's life began in the late 90s with his loving partner, Diana Bearden. Together, they established a home in Brandon, FL, with a wide circle of friends who are more like extended family. Many summers were spent on Anna Maria Island, and although Louie's love for the beach never diminished, he spent the last couple of years living "RV Life" with Diana and their cat, Rammy. They experienced so much beauty and peace during their adventures traveling the country together.
Louie had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh; he loved a good joke, enjoyed poking fun, and wanted everyone around him to have a good time. Those who knew him will feel his absence and remember him with a smile.
Louie is survived by his children, son, Matthew Cooper, and daughter, Casey Cooper; sister, Debra Christman (Ted); nephews, Michael and Andrew; brother, Michael “Buddy” Cooper; life partner, Diana Bearden; extended relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny L. Cooper, Jr. & Myrtle Reid Cooper; and his infant daughter, Cori.
A Celebration of Life is being held in Louie's honor on December 6, 2025, from 12 pm - 4 pm at the Brandon Moose Lodge, 804 S. Miller Rd, Valrico, FL 33594.
