Mr. Spencer Glendas Plumley, Sr., age 76, passed away on October 6, 2025, in Rogers, Arkansas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, pastor, and friend, Spencer lived a life marked by service—to his country, his faith, and his community.
Born on November 30, 1948, Spencer was the son of Lantis Plumley and Darline Sinclair Plumley. He graduated from Lewisville High School and went on to earn a degree from Saint Paul School of Theology. His calling led him to a lifelong ministry with the United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully as a pastor. Known for going above and beyond the call of duty, Spencer ministered not only to his parishioners but also to the broader community with compassion and unwavering dedication.
In addition to his pastoral work, Spencer also served as a plumbing inspector for the state of Arkansas before retiring. His professional life reflected his commitment to integrity and public service.
Spencer was a veteran and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. As an active Sea Bee, he contributed to vital construction efforts that supported military operations overseas. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life.
Spencer's deep love for civic engagement was evident through his active involvement in numerous organizations including the American Legion, Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, National Speakers Association, and Toastmasters International. A gifted speaker and prolific writer, he inspired many through both word and deed.
Above all else, Spencer's greatest passion was his family and his faith. He shared nearly six decades of marriage with his beloved wife Sandra Curtis Plumley of Rogers, Arkansas. Together they built a legacy rooted in love and devotion. Though he fought valiantly in hopes of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on November 8, 2025, his family finds comfort knowing he will be celebrating in his heavenly home.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Sandra; son John Plumley and wife Jennifer of Rogers; daughter Rachel Plumley Gill of Longview, Texas; five cherished grandchildren: Dr. Paige Dailey and husband Lane of Cabot, Arkansas; Summer Cleboski of San Antonio, Texas; Jay Plumley of Rogers; Spencer Patrick Plumley of Little Rock; and Jake Plumley of Rogers.
He is also survived by two sisters: Lana Poyer and husband Art of Longview and Lisa Grasso and husband Randy of Fort Worth; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were touched by his warmth and wisdom.
Spencer was preceded in death by his parents; son Spencer Plumley Jr.; and brother David Plumley.
His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched—as a minister who offered comfort in times of sorrow and joy in times of celebration; as a veteran who served with honor; as a speaker whose words uplifted others; and most importantly as a man whose love for family knew no bounds.
May his memory bring peace and strength to all who knew him.
A memorial service will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
