Janice Lynn Acquisto, a lifelong Stockton resident, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2025. She was born on April 7, 1942, to James and Christine Carpino.
Janice graduated Saint Mary's High School and earned her bachelor's degree and teaching credential from Sacramento State University. After college, she returned to Stockton and began her teaching career. In 1965, Janice married the love of her life, Roger Acquisto, and they soon started their family.
Family came first for Janice. When her kids were young, she took a break from teaching to raise them. She created a home full of love, music, and positivity. Each night, she treated her family to a nice homemade dinner around the kitchen table. Her specialties included all types of Italian and Lebanese dishes.
Janice returned to teaching once her children reached high school age. She taught fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth grades at Commodore Skills School for many years. She was a dedicated teacher who had a positive impact on her many students, as well as her colleagues. After she retired from teaching, she volunteered for several years at the Haggin Museum.
Janice and Roger shared a wonderful marriage filled love and kindness for over 60 years. She loved to cook, sew, garden, travel, and play Bridge. She cherished her family and friends.
Janice is survived by her loving husband Roger, children Marianne Bernadicou (Peter), Stephen Acquisto (Michelle), Michael Acquisto (Yvette), grandchildren August and Madeleine Bernadicou and Charlie and Gianna Acquisto, sister Marianne Conner (David), and brother-in-law Ronald Acquisto.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15th at St. Mary's High School Chapel with a reception to follow at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.
